Delta returns to Hannover for CeBIT — visitors enthusiastic about innovative data center solutions

The world’s largest IT trade fair, CeBIT attracts hundreds of thousands of professional visitors from all over the world every year. Where else can you find the entire spectrum of IT solutions and experience innovations firsthand? The internet of things (IoT), big data, security, cloud computing, and not least digital transformation were just some of the featured topics covered during the event’s five days. Over 3000 exhibitors from 70 countries presented their technological innovations for digital transformation in business and society. This was Deutsche Messe AG’s third time organizing CeBIT under its ‘d!conomy’ theme, adding ‘no limits’ to the slogan and addressing the blurring of borders between people and reality on the one hand and machines and VR on the other.

The digital transformation is putting data centers and their components back into the spotlight. Digitization you can touch could also be observed at the Delta group’s stand (D83 in Hall 12). The company presented its entire product portfolio for data centers with innovative power supplies, cooling systems, and modern components. Green IT and energy efficiency were highlighted there, and various products and solutions from Delta were presented.

    Complex applications require secure infrastructures

Big data, cloud computing, and mobile applications have ushered in a renaissance of the conventional data center. “Without a flexible infrastructure, today’s companies would no longer be able to deploy complex applications or handle the increasing volume of data,” Peter Bigler, head of sales for Europe and head of MCIS EMEA at Delta, explained the current situation. “Modern customers want data center solutions from a single source — scalable, energy-efficient, and reliable, with all the components that make data centers capable of running current and future applications.”

That Delta’s slogan, ‘Smarter – Greener – Together,’ truly embodied the d!conomy theme was evident by the lively influx of visitors crowding to the open-plan Delta stand at its prime location as well as the constructive conversations that took place there. The following video offers an impression of the lively atmosphere.

Customers, prospects, and partners from all over the world used the week at CeBIT to gather information on the latest Delta solutions and obtain comprehensive consultation from Delta employees. “Lots of questions — knowledgeable answers,” that was the bottom line every day at the event.

Delta’s exhibition was rounded off by multiple professional presentations which enjoyed high attendance. Topics included everything from data center solutions in general to cooling systems, power supplies, and industrial solutions which Delta implements for customers around the globe. The presenters were always encircled by interested audience members who transformed each speech into an interactive event, which everyone profited from.

The inside of the data center

The guided tours of the stand were a big draw, taking visitors step-by-step through the entire Delta portfolio. The concept here was a hands-on approach that allowed visitors to see how a control unit works and allows rapid, transparent, and secure generation of all necessary data across all data center components.

On March 21, Victor Cheng, vice president and general manager of Delta’s Power Systems business unit, invited representatives of the international media to a press conference. Charles Tsai, general manager MCIS at Delta Electronics, provided information on strategies and solutions pertaining to all aspects of data centers. Geraint Davis, the global director of data centers at Eltek, a Delta Group company, presented the latest data center solutions, rounding off the Delta portfolio.

    Event highlights included the following:

    • The containerized data center (CDC). The solution was developed to meet the high demands that the telecommunications industry and data center operators place on industrial solutions. An important component of the solution is the Eltek Rectiverter, the world’s first bi-directional power conversion module. For more information on the CDC.
    • The brand-new 600 kVA-1.2 MVA DPS series uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for very large data centers. These UPS units currently offer the highest performance density in a single device at 600kVA/m2. With the ability to couple as many as eight units, it is possible to provide energy reserves of up to 9.6 MW in the data center.

A positive takeaway from the exhibition

“Our participation at CeBIT was a big success again this year,” concluded Jackie Chang, Delta’s president and general manager for EMEA after spending five days at the event. “The positive feedback we’ve been getting from business customers and partners proves that the decision to come to Hanover with our innovative products was the right one. We were once again able to prove that we are a skilled solutions partner for our customers and partners. Our comprehensive portfolio makes our customers’ data centers fit for the demands of the future.
