Delta Electronics Rolls Out InfraSuite RowCool Air-Cooled Type Cooling Units

Delta Electronics, the leading global supplier of power management and thermal management solutions, has launched its InfraSuite RowCool DXA 35kW air-cooled type cooling units to the China, Taiwan, EMEA and Russian markets. The new air-cooled type units follow the great success of the RowCool chilled water type 29kW and 70kW cooling units. With the current trends in big data and cloud computing, Delta’s growing precision cooling product line offers more versatile options for datacenters.

This newly launched RowCool air-cooled type is specially targeted to customers with insufficient outdoor space or with floors that have inadequate load bearing capacity and where installation of outdoor facilities (chiller/cooling tower) is not possible. This new product is also suitable for buildings where a chilled water system is not available or not supplied for 24 hours or more. Features include:

    • High Efficiency and Energy Saving
High EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) design and combination of indoor and outdoor units offer low annual operating cost.
Variable-frequency drive and scroll type compressor provide automated low-speed operation when the load is low and saves operating costs.

    • High Availability
Compressor lowers speed automatically at low loads, reducing start-stops for extended product life.
Components for high/low pressure detection, compressor temperature detection, and air volume detection provide early warnings, ensuring steady operation of the unit.

    • High Flexibility
Supports top/bottom input power wiring and piping, allowing flexible layout of datacenters
Capable of integration with remote monitoring function of Delta SNMP card, providing comprehensive system protection.

Cooling may account for nearly half of total power consumption in a datacenter. Reducing energy required for cooling is one of the most effective ways of saving energy in a datacenter. The trend for high power density is seen in the IT facilities of datacenters, which face tough challenges for heat dissipation and energy saving. Delta has a deep understanding of IT managers’ needs, and the RowCool series offers customer benefits that include:

    • Horizontal air flow that is close to hot spots and allows an even distribution of cooled air to servers, which effectively eliminates hot spots frequently derived from conventional top-/bottom-flow cooling units.

    • Allowing a moderate rack power density increase to save precious datacenter floor space to achieve the optimal space utilization of the room.

    • In-row cooling design allows easy and flexible accommodation into modularized datacenter configuration.

    • Variable fan speed control based on IT facilities load that allows automatic fan speed decrease at low load, significantly saving on datacenter operating costs.

Delta’s InfraSuite Precision Cooling RowCool series has obtained broad recognition from both domestic and overseas customers since its launch. The datacenters of leading semiconductor manufacturers in Taiwan, telecommunication operators, bio-pharmaceutical factories, government entities, higher-education institutes such as National United University and Nanjing University, as well as Delta headquarters in Taipei and R&D Center in Shanghai, all have adopted Delta’s RowCool series. In 2014, Delta began promoting InfraSuite total datacenter solutions in the EMEA and Russia markets to provide green cooling solutions for more enterprises worldwide.
