Delta Protects Visa Application Center in Russia from Power Outages

Delta’s Mission Critical Infrastructure Solutions (MCIS) business unit (BU) working together with its official Russian distributor, Spektr RS, has implemented Delta’s uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) in the St. Petersburg Visa Application Center. Delta’s Modulon NH Plus Series 80 kVA unit provides the computers and the server at the Visa Application Center reliable protection from power surges and outages.

The Visa Application Center opened in St. Petersburg in May 2013. The center brings together the visa service centers of the eleven countries of the Schengen Agreement into one building. Before the integration of the center, the service points were located at various locations throughout the city. The visa center specialists process several thousand documents on a daily basis. A solution was needed to provide backup power to the computers and the servers during a power failure that could possibly last up to fifteen minutes.

The client needed a reliable solution that allowed future expansion. Additional needs included a modular design and ease of installation. Delta’s Modulon NH Plus Series 80 kVA UPS meets all of the client’s expectations and the solution was installed in two weeks. The modular system of Delta’s NH Plus Series UPS provides the ability to scale the power range from 20 to 320 kVA in increments of 20 kVA. The solution’s N+X parallel redundancy increases the reliability of the system and its load carrying capacity. This means that if one unit fails, the system will continue to run smoothly. In the event of a failed unit, it is possible to replace the failed module without having to shut down the system or switch to bypass. Delta UPSs offer the highest power conversion efficiency ensuring maximum load capacity. NH Plus patented technology allows for 94% efficiency in normal mode and 97% efficiency in energy save mode.

“Data processing cannot be stopped for a prolonged time even in the event of technical problems. If a problem occurs, all systems continue to operate. “Thanks to the Modulon NH Plus Series UPS, the Visa Application Center is able to provide services to applicants without interruptions or down time,” said by Andrei Saviliev, General Director of Spektr RS.
