Delta UPS Protects Pulkovo Air Traffic Control in Saint Petersburg, Russia

Delta Electronics has installed the Delta Modulon NH Plus Series 20-80kVA into the air traffic control equipment of the Pulkovo Airport in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The project was implemented by the integrator company Eltek in cooperation with Delta Electronics’ distributor company Spectr RS.

The customer’s major concern was to maintain reliable operation of the air traffic control center equipment for flight safety within the Pulkovo Airport control area. The main requirement imposed by the northwestern branch of the State Air Traffic Management Corporation of the Russian Federation was to ensure 100% redundancy for all electricity consumers with a total capacity of 32kW. The off-line/on-line UPS that was previously installed and distributed to consumers failed to provide an uninterruptible power supply when an emergency arose.

Eltek, acting as an integrator company for this project, decided on the Delta Modulon NH Plus Series 20-80kVA installed in parallel connection with the Pulkovo Airport. The main criteria for selecting Delta Electronics’ solutions were the high reliability of the equipment, hot-swappable modular design, as well as stock availability and minimum delivery time.

The Modulon NH Plus Series UPS maintains a high efficiency level of up to 94% and extremely low total cost of ownership in both its capital and operating costs. The series’ N+X module and built-in system redundancy ensures the system’s reliability and versatility, which makes the Modulon NH Plus Series the new standard for the protection of mission critical power supply applications.

In the future, with the increasing capacity of the air traffic control center equipment, the customer, the northwestern branch of the State Air Traffic Management Corporation of the Russian Federation, is ready to consider the delivery of additional UPS modules and their installation in a reserved space.
