Voice & Data Magazine Ranks Delta as Telecom Power Systems Strongest Player in India

The rapidly growing Indian telecommunications industry is facing an urgent need for power management in order to cut operating costs and to remain competitive. According to the Voice & Data magazine (June 2011), the adoption of renewable energy sources has been rapid.

New alternative energy solutions and renewable power solutions, such as solar and hybrid power solutions, are increasingly being installed on sites to boost their energy efficiency. In addition, real-time monitoring systems are becoming an indispensable component in the Indian telecommunications industry. The demand for power backup solutions is also expected to witness a boom thanks to India’s fast economic growth and due to the country’s continued power deficit.

India has currently around 400,000 telecom towers, and their number is expected to grow to 450,000 over the next two years. With the increasing popularity of newer mobile technologies such as 3G and BWA, there is a constant need for efficient power management. Smart power management also helps in avoiding the increase of energy consumption and in protecting the environment.

Delta India Electronics is the leading power solution provider in India with a market share of 51.6%. It has expertise in indoor and outdoor power solutions, as well as TEC-approved power solutions. In this fiscal year, Delta provides power management solutions to around 200,000 towers. Delta’s biggest competitors in India are Emerson, Eltek Valere and Acme, with respective market shares of 21.3%, 14.8% and 12.3%.
