Delta is launching several new systems in all of its series – CellD, MidD and CabD.
The new inverter systems for telecoms provide a modular UPS for AC power back-up by combining Delta’s high-quality modular inverter, static switches and DC power systems. Thanks to their overload capability, the inverters are able to deliver high start-up currents required by appliances such as air conditioners. In addition, the inverters scale up to 30 kVA, enabling flexible use.
The SSW Series static switches act as electronic switch between the AC mains and the efficient Delta API
The MidD medium power systems, APS 1500A-230-6 SSW and APS 1500A-230-8, are the first to come on the market by the end of the second quarter of this year. The compact size and flexible configurations make difficult site access and installation easy. The characteristic of this system is to support different installation types such as wall mount.
In early Q3, we will bring out several new scalable small CellD rack systems that can be integrated into any standard cabinet or outdoor cabinets, and large CabD systems for core network applications.
Especially in emerging markets with unstable AC utility, existing site upgrade with such inverter systems allows different operating mode during the mains outage. This enables fuel savings leading to significant operating cost reductions..
To further strengthen the versatile remote communications options, we have now introduced SMS alarms that help operators react quickly to maintenance needs. The Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) also contributes to ensuring the accuracy of site information.
Delta has upgraded the energy efficiency of two rectifier series. “DPR 2000 and DPR 2900 are the new members in the EnergE family, with an energy efficiency exceeding 96%. The rectifiers are now applicable with PSC 3 that provides an additional package of sophisticated energy saving, site management and maintenance supporting functionalities,” says Hans-Peter Glauser, Global Product Manager for Power Conversion.
DPR 2900 is an upgrade from the previous DPR 2700 model. DPR 2000 is a lower power model providing energy savings for medium power applications.
Delta is opening a new office in Senegal in the second quarter of 2010.“We already have an office in South Africa, and the opening of our Senegal office is another strategic step for us on the African continent. We want to underline our commitment to our customers and partners in this region,” says Carlo Pasqualotto, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for EMEA.
The office is located in Dakar and will be headed by Mr. Alioune Barry (in the photo). He has extensive experience in the industry and especially in supplying power back-up systems. The Senegal office will be part of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) business region and will report to Mr. Mohammed Bayadroun, the Regional Director for MEA. We at Delta wish Alioune and the whole Senegal office all the best for this new assignment.
In Africa, Delta will introduce new products such as UPS and photovoltaic solutions to customers ranging from small to large players in both the public and private sectors. In addition, we will continue working on telecom power solutions and maintaining close business relationships with our installation and service partners.
The Senegal office contact information is Cite des Magistrats, Villa 51 Mamelles, Dakar, tel: + 221 33 860 84 85 and fax: + 221 77 332 20 04.
The UPS workshop held on 26–28 April 2010 at the Renewable Energy & UPS BU headquarters in Tainan brought together more than thirty of Delta’s key managers from Taiwan, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, Brazil, Russia, China and India.
Despite relying on a wheelchair for mobility, Dr. Chance made a research presentation in addition to exchanging ideas with Delta’s Chairman Bruce Cheng. Dr. Chance’s wife Prof. Shoko Nioka acknowledged Mr. Cheng for his work on changing people’s mindsets towards environmental protection and energy efficiency.
New software for PSC 3
News from the controller front! At the beginning of the year, we introduced the new software version (v2.50) of our PSC 3 telecom power system controller. PSC 3 now includes a new data-logging functionality, which enables the flexible logging of events, alarms and measured data. The key benefit of this functionality is that it allows you to get a good overview of how the power system is performing without physically visiting the site. In addition, the logged data helps in planning and optimizing maintenance procedures.
PC-free adjustments for CSU 502 The CSU 502
The CSU 502 controller’s system parameters are now even easier to adjust onsite. The maintenance technician no longer needs a PC for commissioning or maintenance. Instead, the technician can use a control stick to navigate the user-friendly LCD display menu. In addition, we have developed an optional fan control module for CSU 502 to enhance its performance in outdoor applications. The fan control module allows you to optimize the cooling performance and energy efficiency based on actual temperatures – with an integrated user interface for all functions.
Delta’s management teams from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and UPS business headquarters were pleased to meet and work with partners from 11 countries, including Cameroon, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malta, Pakistan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Over three intensive days, the partners worked on how to capture new market opportunities, learned more about Delta, and of course, made valuable contacts.
Focus on the Middle East and Africa
The Middle East and Africa (MEA) markets are among the fastest growing and developing markets in the world. We believe that this momentum will boost UPS demand over the next decade. Delta is working on strengthening relations with local partners and providing best-in-class energy-efficient products.
MEA customers need UPS to supply reliable power and to protect their precious data and electronic devices from power problems. To this end, Delta announced two high-efficiency products, the NH Plus series and the GAIA series, to partners in this region.
What can we do for you? Let us help you in building a profitable and sustainable business!
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Cheng commended Mr. Friedman for his “efforts and contribution to focus people’s attention on the huge climate problems we have created,” and said Mr. Friedman’s most recent book Hot, Flat, and Crowded is “the best tool to tell the people what we should do.” Mr. Cheng reaffirmed that Delta is doing whatever it can to make sure that we continue to improve the energy efficiency of all our products.
Mr. Friedman visited Taiwan to give a speech at the “Hot, Flat, and Crowded” forum held on 12 January 2010 in Taipei. In a panel discussion held at the Taipei International Convention Center, Friedman, Cheng and other influential people shared their views on the development of renewable energy and environmental protection with a full auditorium.
Vice Chairman and CEO Mr. Yancey Hai emphasized the importance of working closely with Delta’s distributors in order to tap into customers’ needs and to create a win-win situation. Mr. Hai spoke about Delta’s hard work on addressing environmental and energy-related challenges – some of the most critical issues the world will face in the first half of the 21st century.
